July - September

Economy Driven Advertising Doesn't Have to be Costly...Just Smart!

When it comes to advertising, especially in hard economic times, companies will pull back advertising dollars to help reduce costs. Although it is a temporary fix, if no one knows where you are or what your services are, how can you anticipate them calling on you? Well thought out advertising campaigns can be achieved with smaller budgets and still provide results. Using word of mouth, "gorilla" marketing techniques, and new media, your company's message can remain in front of potential customers.

What is the Color?

Duotone...every heard of it? It is made by printing a grayscale image with two ink colors. This method creates a richer tone and enhances the overall look of a two color piece. By using duotones, you can achieve a very pleasing effect while keeping printing costs down.

Effective Newsprint Ads

Just because it looks "cool" doesn't mean it will show up correctly in the low resolution world of newsprint. Here are a few things that can help create an effective ad...

  • Main header and contact information should be in bold font and placed in a prominent area.
  • "White space" is your friend when it comes to a clean design.
  • Do not put a short story in your ad! It should be as brief as possible focusing on what you do and your services.
  • Borders can enhance any design but be wary of overly thick black borders (10-18pt). They can overpower the design and detract your message.
